This role is located in Brighton, MA and will support the modeling, valuation and financial reporting of fixed and variable annuities. The hiring manager will consider AVP or Associate Actuary level based on prior experience. The Actuary will work with the team in completing the monthly valuation and analysis for our various direct and acquired blocks of insurance and annuities. Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Calculating Statutory, Tax, GAAP reserves and related actuarial balances
  • Reviewing valuation and financial reporting implications of new products
  • Conducting annual impact testing for potential assumption changes
  • Completing analysis of various lines of business, including sensitivities, for both statutory and GAAP balances
  • Maintaining and improving various controls for both valuation and modeling, including Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Providing support as subject matter expert on US Statutory and US GAAP within the Actuarial team and across Global Atlantic
  • Regular and ad hoc analysis related to Statutory (AG33, AG35, AG43, and C3P1) and GAAP (DAC, FAS 133, SOP 03-1) balances
  • Work with the Central Modeling team in validating models, creating specifications for new models, and model updates
  • Asset Adequacy Analysis (CFT) and C3P1 testing
  • Supporting audit and regulatory requests
  • Other special projects


  • 4 to 10 years’ experience as an actuary in the life insurance industry
  • FSA required
  • Strong background in life and annuity US Statutory and GAAP valuation
  • Experience with MG ALFA preferred
  • Knowledge of annuity products preferred
  • Strong communication, technical, and analytical skills.
  • Takes personal accountability for the execution of goals and objectives.
  • Able to participate in the generation of new and unique ideas.
  • Has positive attitude necessary to be part of a strong performing team
