Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to perform functions relating to accounting, reporting and data management, of a large portfolio of securities and other investments. In addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, all candidates must work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and possess a proven ability to design and lead operational and accounting change. All candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide accounting and reporting expertise and leadership on investment related initiatives, representing Controllers with Portfolio Managers, Tax, Actuarial and other key internal clients/partners.
  • Participate in design, implementation, and maintenance of investment accounting processes and controls for alternative asset classes.
  • Oversee the daily recording of investment activity by the third party administrators; providing guidance proactively.
  • Perform period-end closing procedures, including analytical reviews of income earned, asset valuations, and other financial statement items.
  • Investigate unanticipated variances and provide detailed comments to TPA or asset management operations team for resolution.
  • Both prepare and review others’ preparation of GAAP and STAT investment related schedules and footnote disclosures.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and footnotes for regulatory (i.e.  NAIC) filings and audits.
  • Assist with initiatives for implementation of new accounting standards, process improvements, and accounting processes and procedures for complex, new investment types.
  • Key role in compliance with the provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and NAIC model audit rule, including driving forward change and process improvements in execution of controls and procedures.
  • Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects, as requested.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA, MBA, CFA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Public Accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with investment accounting systems (PAM & Sungard).
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel; data warehouse design or support a plus.
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, deadline driven; possess excellent documentation and analysis skills.
  • Results oriented, flexible, self motivated , and able to work in a team environment with limited direct supervision.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross functional teams and succeed in matrix environments.
