The Sales Support Specialist will join the Des Moines-based Life Sales Desk team to provide agents with phone support on life products, illustration software, case design and extranet sites in addition to reinforcing and further cultivating relationships with existing and new agents.  Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing assistance to agents in selecting and choosing products that will best meet their client’s needs and advising on how to best illustrate the products
  • Running product illustrations and providing visual aids to agents while ensuring they are marketing products according to internal guidelines
  • Answering incoming calls on complex and technical questions while demonstrating an understanding of different contract types, multiple company product portfolios and cross-sell opportunities
  • Troubleshooting problems reported with the illustration software packages
  • Building strong relationships with new and existing agents
  • Competitively positioning products with agents and external partners
  • Recognizing new opportunities to market products; enhance software and extranet sites to improve service and sales
  • Understanding the sales process from beginning to end to provide additional assistance or enhancement when needed


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational experience preferred
  • Two to five years of sales and/or customer service experience in financial services, life and annuity products and service preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to explain products, tools, concepts and processes to a diverse customer base
  • Demonstrated technical ability and experience with illustration software systems preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced team environment
  • Strong work ethic and high level of personal integrity and accountability
